How to Plant
Start seeds indoors 2–3 weeks before the last frost date, or sow directly into warm, well-drained soil when temperatures consistently exceed 20°C (68°F). Plant seeds 2–3 cm deep in hills or rows, spacing plants 1–2 meters apart to allow for vine spread. Water deeply and consistently, especially during fruit development, while avoiding waterlogging. Apply a balanced fertilizer at planting, then switch to a potassium-rich formula once flowering begins. Harvest when the tendril nearest the fruit has dried, the underside turns yellow, and the fruit produces a hollow sound when tapped – typically 70–90 days after planting. Store unused seeds in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
